Did you know that the order of ingredients in an INCI list is crucial? According to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products:
āThe list of ingredients shall be established in descending order of weight at the time they are added to the cosmetic product. Ingredients in concentrations of less than 1% may be listed in any order after those in concentrations of more than 1%.ā
This means itās essential to follow the original order exactly ā even small deviations can lead to costly corrective actions.
Another key point: the word āingredientsā must always appear in English before the list.
And a Hungarian-specific tip: the law doesnāt specify formatting (capital letters or full stops). The best practice is to treat it as a standard list: start with a lowercase letter and avoid a full stop at the end.
